About Five Points Fencing Academy
Five Points Fencing Academy is dedicated to bringing the Olympic sport of fencing to Boston's South Shore communities. We are an affirming, inclusive, and welcoming space for people of all ages who would like to learn to fence, or would like to continue their fencing careers.
Head Coach - Rob Charlton.
Rob has been a fencing coach at the NCAA and club level since 1999. Since 2003, Rob has been coaching at Wellesley College where he is currently the head coach and was named the 2022-23 US Fencing Coaches Association NCAA Div. III Women's Coach of the Year. Highlights of his athletes' results include 1st and 2nd place overall team finish, 2nd place team epée, two gold medals in individual women’s epée, gold medal team foil at New England Championships, as well as numerous NCAA Regional qualifiers, including a finalist this past season. In 2021-22 Wellesley finished at 31-15 on the season, a school record for wins and won back to back New England Championships for the first time in school history. He was a part of the New England Collegiate Fencing Conference Coaching Staff of the Year at Wellesley in 2018-19 and 2019-2020 and also at Tufts when he was a volunteer assistant. Prior to starting Five Points Fencing Academy, he also coached epee at Moe Fencing Club where his athlete made a Veteran 50+ National Team taking 11th place at 2009 World Veteran Championships in Moscow. |
Assistant Coach - Nova Gregory
Nova (they/them) has coached at the collegiate, national and international level. This builds upon a successful athletic career including a New England Intercollegiate Championship, numerous medals and representing the United States in international competition.
Nova began giving lessons at Marx Fencing Academy before founding Missouri's first-ever parafencing program at the St. Louis Fencing Center and coaching several collegiate club teams in St. Louis the following year. They joined The Phoenix Center in 2023, facilitating fencers to over half a dozen medals at North American Cups and the US National Championships. Nova assisted Team USA's national coach in preparing athletes for the 2023 Parafencing World Championships in Thailand, and qualified an athlete to the 2024 Veteran World Championships in Dubai. They also served as recruiting specialist for Vassar College before joining Five Points Fencing in 2024.
